If you're not quite ready for a Caravan and are considering a Beech 18 or an Otter - Wipaire Boss Beaver is all you need!
The Wipaire Boss Beaver was designed to be an entry-level turbine aircraft to move the piston operator into the turbine class at minimal cost, yet providing tremendous revenue-generating capability. To accomplish this we felt a fuselage stretch and a larger tail would make the conversion too expensive. Wipaire engineers believed if the fuel could be moved forward for balance purposes and the engine could be kept reasonably close to the wing, that the tail would not have to be enlarged. It worked! We ended up with a very slippery Turbine powered Boss Beaver, without a long snout and all the fuel contained in the wings where it is safest and best for the aircraft structure.
The Wipaire extended cabin and additional float compartment storage offset the larger cabin volume of the factory built Turbine Beaver. With 650 HP worth of take-off power and the paddle blade otter prop, the Boss Beaver will break water at full gross in just over 965 feet with amphibious floats. All fuel and engine systems are patterned after the highly successful Cessna Caravan, so transitioning to the next step will be a breeze. The entire airframe was re-engineered (mostly to FAA 23 standards).
The Beech 18 vs. The Boss Beaver
The Wipaire Boss Beaver is slightly faster and has more useful load. Yes, the seaplane version of the WTB can cruise over 200 mph and carry over 2600 pounds of fuel and payload, while maintaining a fraction of the per-seat mile cost.
The Otter vs. The Boss Beaver
The Wipaire Boss Beaver can carry more payload on trips of over 400 sm miles and is capable of cruise speeds 50% faster.

Shown above is the Wipaire "Flagship" Boss Beaver N100KL. On the left is this aircraft "pre-boss" on the right is the same Beaver with all the Boss modifications installed and a sharp new paint job. This beaver went from ho-hum to WOW. The STOL is incredible and the amphibious floats open a whole new world of destinations.
